A Change in Routine.

Tonight has really illustrated to me that sometimes a small change in situation and routine can be enough to trigger a minor sleep regression. My eldest was always my troublesome sleeper as a baby. In fact, her challenging sleep was the reason why I eventually sought the help of a sleep consultant, a decision which I am forever grateful for. It was through working with Karen Bramall, Founder of Baby Sleep the Night that I became inspired to complete my own training and certification in child sleep consulting as I wanted to be able to help others to regain their evenings and have happy bedtimes in the same way that I had.

Regression Triggers

Lockdown itself wasn’t the spark for the regression, but since returning to school my daughter has become unsettled and anxious at bedtime and she has been using a multitude of delaying tactics to prevent us leaving her room.

Adjustments

Pulling on my sleep training and my experiences with my clients I know that this will be short-lived and in a couple of nights and over the course of the next week she will be able to return to a calm bedtime again. We will make the necessary adjustments to her bedtime routine so that we can reassure her that everything is ok but also address the power play that she is currently making.

Consistency, consistency, consistency.

The key then is as I say to all my clients – driving consistency. It really is so critical when implementing any sleep plan. 100% of my clients have had success when they have stuck to my plans and been consistent in their commitment to the delivery of the plan. We are all human and we all make mistakes and even the greatest sleepers can sometimes have a little hiccup along the way.

Empowering Parents

The great thing about being a sleep consultant is that I get to help others to deal with those hiccups. I help parents to feel empowered and confident to take the right action. I provide parents the support and guidance they need to help their little ones through little or big challenges with sleep, so that they can take control and develop their own great little sleepers.

Support

For situations such as the above I have a Great Little Sleepers Refresher Package available to provide support and guidance to parents faced with a similar situation. Click here for more information.
